Photoshop Live! Report of Meeting 17 Oct 2008
by Hugh Winnan
30 members of the Barry Camera Club attended the meeting on Friday 17th October 2008 to hear a talk by Dave Rowley entitled "Photoshop Live". Members were invited to get Dave Rowley to explain aspects of this powerful manipilation software programme which is now commonly used by digital photographers both amateur and professional. Using his own images, projected on the club's new digital projector, Dave was able to show members how to best sharpen images, improve dynamic range of photos, adjust colour balance and saturation, make a panoramic image from several individual shots and a number of other techniques. Dave's confident presentation showed that he is a master of this software. He is on the club programme to return for a similar session on 6th March 2009. Club chairwoman Barbra Archdale-Smith thanked Dave Rowley for his in-depth presentation and expressed the hope that members' photographs in future would be able to benefit from using these demonstrated techniques.
The next meeting of the club is on Friday 24th October at the St Francis Millenium Centre in Barry when the talk is entitled "Remembering Dave Cowdrey" by Dennis Kulke. The following week is the monthly competition which will be judged by Dave Russell and a very healthy number of prints and projected images have already been entered .
