Fast Eddie Pays Barry Camera Club a Visit

Renowned glamour photographer Fast Eddie Doherty paid a visit to Barry Camera Club on Friday October 2nd to give us a glimpse of his portfolio and tell us about his lighting and shooting techniques. Having had his work published in countless magazines and websites around the world, Eddie has a real depth of knowledge about his subject and passed his tips on to the assembled members in an entertaining and informative way.
Eddie explained how his shots were cropped tight on the model so that the background did not distract the viewer. He also stood back and used a long lens whenever possible to flatten perspective and minimise distractions in the background.
His lighting techniques were illuminating and he brought along some of his lighting equpment to show how simple and comparatively inexpensive it was. He explained his preference for standing well away from his model meant that he had to use a very powerful flash unit when flash was called for.
Eddie went on to cover the practicalities of selling to magazines and copyright issues and concluded with the dangers of shooting on beaches.
