Barry Camera Club Meeting 19 Sep 2008
The guest speaker at last Friday's meting was Marc Delaney, a former professional photographer in the advertising industry. The first half of the evening was an audio-visual presentation which covered an incredible range of subjects including waterfalls, still-life, landscapes, men, women, animals, heavenly bodies ,and fantasy. Marc explained how many of the shots used were taken before digital photography appeared on the scene and he was using high quality film cameras, some of which took transparencies as large as 4 x 5 inches. In compiling the digital AV presentation this meant he had to re-photograph many of his transparencies by putting them on a light box and using a digital camera.
The second part of the evening was a demonstration of the software programme called "Pro Show Producer" which he had used to prepare the earlier AV show. He explained that although this was not the only such programme available it is his preferred one as it is very powerful and gave a huge range of possibilities when compiling such a show.
Chairwoman Barbra Archdale-Smith thanked Marc for his excellent presentation and commented that there were so many wonderful images that gave food for thought for members for future photographic sessions .
The next meeting of the club is on Friday 26th September when the invited judge for the "Three on a Theme" competition is Gary Green ARPS AWPF DPAGB .The print section of the competition is sponsored by Jessops with a cash prize for the winner.
Details of the future programme are shown on the club website at www.barrycameraclub.org.uk and copies are also available at local libraries in the Vale. Potential members are invited to attend free for 2 or 3 meetings so see if they wish to join.
